This morning, I put together a little page of some of my flower petals collection. Along with a business card from my local florist. A poppy petal that turned very dark after pressing it. It started out bright red. I can not remember where the two yellow petals came from. Most likely from a wonderful bouquet made by those local florists. Uses a piece of mottled green paper for the background. Hope you enjoy this one.
Today, I completed an altered book I started at the beginning of April. This is the first, but definitely not the last, altered book I’ve made. This page spread is a striped heart I colored with acrylic markers. I glued it to the page with an UHU glue stick. Then, I colored the rest of the page in with blue acrylic marker. I am still working on the cover, which I hope to finish tomorrow. A friend got me started on this journey, and I am very grateful she did.
Yesterday, I took some of the sheets I had previously created and made some cutouts to use in future projects. I just cut out basic shapes because I don’t have many stencils. I have seen many of these in more intricate shapes like flowers, mushrooms, feathers, leaves, etc. I traced the shapes on the back of my projects, so it was a surprise what the design of them was when they were cut out.
I have spent a good portion of my Sunday creating and coloring/painting these simple zentangles. I have always wanted to do one, but some of them are very complex, and I was intimidated by that. However, today, I found some instructions while studying art therapy. They were very basic, starting with a shape in the middle and just create outwards from there. The first two I did freehand and the last one, I used a ruler to keep my lines straight and a circle shape to trace the circles. It was very meditative and relaxing. I listened to some music while I worked on them and also to an audio book. It was a terrific way to relax on a day when I really needed it.
For this one, I painted my pages with broze acrylic paint. I used decorative scissors to cut out the trim from a piece of cardboard that came wrapped around something. I glued those pieces to the top and bottom of each page. Then, I added a sticker to the middle of each page.
I coated these pages with gesso before starting on them. I used my finger and acrylic paint to put paint dots on the left-hand side of this page spread. I cut out a blue water picture from a brochure I picked up while traveling. I glued that down. Then, I added some ‘lace’ stickers on top of it.
Both are very simple pages, but they were satisfying to work on.
I started with a plain white piece of cardstock and just started randomly applying different designs of washi tape. I like the result. I will most likely cut this into different shapes for use in my journals.
What personal belongings do you hold most dear?
I have some jewelry that I cherish. However, my favorite possession is my Peloton bike. It goes nowhere but has taken me so far. Emotionally, mentally, physically. I have made friends and traveled and become brave and it all started with that bike.
Today, I painted the pages of the book with blue acrylic paint. But I left some words showing. Then, I highlighted the words I wanted to focus on and used a red paint marker to block out the other words. I glued in a couple of white circles and the word LOVE. Very simple page.
I have a cow collection, a button collection, a collection of tins, and a collection of vintage kitchen utensils. I display most of these collections throughout my home.
Today’s project was a page in a tall skinny notebook. I used a piece of translucent paper and colored it with oil pastels, then smudged them together. I glued that down. Then I had some little cards with heart doors on them, so I added those. I found an appointment card from my vet that said love is a four-legged word and thought that was a good addition. I cut it down and glued it on. Then, I printed tiny pictures of two of my dogs and glued those inside the heart doors. I am pleased with the result.
